Congress leader Pawan Khera dismissed the recent defections of leaders from the Indian National Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly Election. Speaking to NDTV, Khera said the party had already anticipated that some leaders would switch sides and claimed there was a list of “suspects” likely to cross over. He argued that such defections are a setback not for the Congress but for the individuals involved, accusing them of lacking a moral compass. Khera also said leaders who leave political parties often make allegations to justify their exit, adding that voters are wise enough to judge turncoats during elections.
