Maha Board HSC 12th Result 2026 Live: Maharashtra clears Rs 51.68 crore scholarship dues for 15,252 students

The Maharashtra government has approved the release of over Rs 51.68 crore to clear long-pending post-matric scholarship and freeship dues for 15,252 students from the 2018–19 academic year.
As per a Government Resolution issued on April 30 by the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, the funds will address pending and excess disbursals made through the MahaDBT portal, helping regularise discrepancies in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) pool account.
The sanctioned amount of Rs 51.68 crore will benefit students from OBC, VJNT, and SBC categories under various scholarship schemes. The bulk allocation—Rs 45.81 crore—has been earmarked for OBC students (15,103 beneficiaries), followed by Rs 5.32 crore for VJNT and Rs 45.61 lakh for SBC students.
The discrepancies date back to the initial rollout of MahaDBT in 2018–19, when the absence of a validation mechanism led to fund mismatches. Of the Rs 120.45 crore processed, Rs 67.96 crore was transferred to the Single Nodal Account, while around Rs 52 crore remained unresolved.
Following a review in February 2026, the state cleared the excess and pending amounts, authorising their transfer to MahaIT’s central pool account for reconciliation and subsequent disbursal.
The funds will be routed through the MahaDBT portal to ensure transparency and timely credit to students’ bank accounts. The Director of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, Pune, has been tasked with overseeing implementation and compliance.

Explaining the move, Trigun Kulkarni said the decision to merge the Maharashtra Board HSC marksheet and pass certificate into a single document had been under consideration for some time. He added that including the candidate’s photograph will improve identification, while a unique QR code will enable instant verification of authenticity. By scanning the QR code through the official Maharashtra State Board mobile app, users can directly access and confirm a student’s marks in the system — streamlining the process, eliminating the need to approach the board, and reducing the risk of fake marksheets.
