NDRF is training dogs, primarily Belgian Malinois and Labradors, to locate human remains during rescue operations. This initiative addresses a gap in current disaster response capabilities, as the focus has traditionally been on saving lives. The dogs are being trained using a special synthetic scent mimicking human decomposition, as obtaining actual body material is challenging.
