Ace investor Ashish Kacholia, popularly known as the ‘Big Whale’, made several changes to his Rs 3,000 crore portfolio in the second quarter of FY27, according to Trendlyne data.
The market veteran added newly listed ESDS Software Solutions to his portfolio, picking up a stake of over 2% in the company. The stock has gained 202% since listing at a 76% premium last month.
The other two additions are Ardee Industries (1.5% stake) and Credent Connect N Care (1.2% stake), data from Trendlyne showed. Their stock prices are down 35% and 10% in the last year, respectively.
As for additions, he upped his stake in Indo SMC and Stove Kraft. Indo SMC shares are up 160% this year, while the Stove Kraft stock price has risen 45% over the same period. Indo SMC is an integrated manufacturer of advanced electrical enclosures, transformers, and switchgear in power distribution. Stove Kraft manufactures home and kitchen appliances.
Which stocks did he trim stake in?
Ashish Kacholia has likely exited Fineotex Chemicals after his stake fell below the 1% disclosure threshold. The stock has rallied 126% over the past six months. Fineotex Chemicals manufactures and supplies specialty performance chemicals and enzymes for various industries, including textiles, home care, hygiene and water treatment.
The other two names are Dhabriya Plywood and Brand Concepts. The company manufactures eco-friendly uPVC and PVC building materials, interior products, and modular furniture as a wood substitute to support tree conservation.
For Brand Concepts, Kacholia has likely exited the company, with its shareholding falling below the 1% disclosure threshold. The stake sale comes after Kacholia held a 1.4% stake for three consecutive quarters. The stock is down 61% since the beginning of this year.
He has trimmed stake in Safari Industries, Faze Three, Shaily Engineering, Texel Industries, Beta Drugs, Yasho Industries, Knowledge Marine Engineering, Carysil, Advait Energy, and Xpro.
The portfolio changes come against a backdrop of relentless pressure, with FIIs pulling out over Rs 3 lakh crore in calendar 2026. Rising bond yields, soaring crude oil prices and tighter monetary conditions have further battered investor sentiment. The damage was so severe that, before last week’s rebound, the Nifty had fallen for eight consecutive weeks, its longest losing streak since 2001.
Ashish Kacholia is among India's most closely watched veteran investors, with his portfolio activity regularly drawing the attention of retail and institutional investors. His investment decisions are widely tracked as indicators of emerging opportunities and changing market sentiment.
