Shares of BSE and Wipro will remain in focus on Wednesday as the stock exchange is set to replace the IT major and join rival NSE's benchmark index Nifty 50 today, as the semi-annual Nifty index rejig takes effect.
BSE’s inclusion in the Nifty 50 index will likely attract inflows worth $668 million, according to Nuvama Institutional Equities which sees the stock exchange as the top beneficiary in the rejig. BSE shares have gained 57% and 22% in 2026 so far, delivering multibagger returns of 640% in three years and 2,239% in five years. However, the stock has seen some downturn recently, falling more than 2% in a week and in this month as CAS-related issues along with the overall market downturn dampened sentiment.
Wipro is expected to see outflows worth $230 million as a result of its exclusion from the Nifty 50 index, according to Nuvama. The IT major has been one of the worst hit by the selloff in IT stocks seen since the beginning of the year. As new AI innovations sparked over-optimism around the nascent technology, India’s much-touted IT stocks crashed as investors worried about the future of IT services roles. While the correction in AI stocks later proved to be a boon to IT stocks, Fed rate hike worries and other factors further dampened sentiment.

Wipro shares have crashed more than 41% in 2026 so far, delivering a negative return of more than 34% in just one year. Its other IT peers on Nifty 50 like HCL Tech, Infosys, TCS and Tech Mahindra have fallen up to 37% this year. The sharp selloff in Wipro shares has pushed its market capitalisation down to Rs 1.55 lakh crore.
Who will see the biggest inflows from the NSE indices rejig?
While BSE and Wipro grab the headlines for their respective inclusion and exclusion from the benchmark Nifty 50 index, Nuvama noted that BSE is likely to attract the highest inflows of $594 million across passive indices, followed by Vedanta Aluminium, Adani Enterprises, Polycab and Power India. Meanwhile, Wipro, IHCL, Reliance Industries, Shree Cement and United Spirits are expected to see the highest outflows.
After exclusion from the Nifty 50 index, Wipro shares will be added to the Nifty Next 50 index. BSE shares meanwhile will be removed from the Nifty Midcap 150 index.
