GIFT Nifty (Earlier SGX Nifty) signals a muted start

GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX traded higher by 13.5 points, or 0.05 per cent, at 24,655, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for a muted start on Monday.

Tech View: A sustained break below 24,300 would weaken the near-term setup and extend the corrective move towards the psychological 24,000 level.

India VIX: India VIX, which is a measure of the fear in the markets, rose 0.8% to settle at 12.16 levels.

Asian stocks rose on Monday after soft US jobs data sent Wall Street gauges higher on Friday, with the S&P 500 Index closing at a record high.

Oil prices rose on Monday on uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz anytime soon, as Iran said a deal with Oman defining new shipping lanes was in its final stages but insisted the U.S. must still meet other conditions.

Gold held steady in early Asian trade on Monday after hitting a seven-week peak on Friday, as investors awaited key inflation reports due later this week for interest rate clues.

Securities in the ban period under the F&O segment include companies in which the security has crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit.

Foreign portfolio investors net bought shares worth Rs 480 crore on Friday. DIIs, meanwhile, were net buyers at Rs 236 crore.
