Prime Minister Narendra Modi Modnay said the enactment of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is one of the most significant moves in 21st century.
Addressing a national level conference, ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’, in Delhi, Modi said, “Parliament is close to creating new history that will realise visions of the past, fulfil resolutions of future.” He said its “our effort and priority” that the amendment bill was passed through dialogue, cooperation and participation. “When Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was introduced in 2023, it was passed unanimously by all parties,” he said.
He also hailed Panchayati Raj institutions as remarkable example of women’s leadership, and said India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ has made immense contributions. “Success of Jal Jeevan Mission is prime example of how women have played significant role at panchayat level, said PM Modi.

“Studies have shown that increased participation of women in decision-making leads to greater sensitivity, responsiveness within systems,” he said.
A day earlier, PM Modi wrote a letter to the floor leaders of all parties in both the Houses of Parliament, requesting their support in the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill, saying that this moment stands above any party or individual.
The Government has planned two major amendments. 2023’s Nari Shakti Vandan Act tied women’s quota to the new census and delimitation. Due to census delays, the plan is to proceed with the 2011 census data.
