Two Delta planes collide while taxiing at LaGuardia Airport; wing of one plane detached

A low-speed collision between two Delta regional jets occurred Wednesday evening at LaGuardia Airport, injuring one person. The right wing of one aircraft struck the nose of another, causing significant damage, including a lost wing section and shattered windshields. One jet, Delta Flight 5047, was taxiing after landing from Charlotte when the incident happened.
