A sizeable pool of shares held by pre-listing investors is set to become eligible for release over the next three months, with shareholder lock-ins in 91 companies scheduled to expire between October 5 and December 29. Nuvama Alternative & Quantitative Research estimates that the opening covers shares worth about $14 billion.
However, this represents the total value of shares whose lock-ins are expiring and does not mean the entire pool will necessarily hit the market.
That distinction is important because a sizeable portion of the shares is held by promoters and promoter groups. Nuvama's analysis covers both promoter and non-promoter shareholders in companies listed up to September 30, 2026. The actual supply that emerges will therefore depend on what individual shareholders decide to do after the lock-in period ends.
