651 crore people travelled by general coaches last year: Indian Railways

Despite viral videos suggesting otherwise, Indian Railways data reveals a significant surge in general coach travel, with 651 crore passengers in 2024-25. Non-AC coaches now constitute 70% of the total fleet, and the Railways introduced 1,250 general coaches in long-distance trains.
