To maintain law and order in Amritsar and crack down on drug traffickers and anti-social elements, the Police Commissionerate conducted a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO). This operation was launched under the directions of Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar to eliminate drug trade and curb criminals. Today, on February 1, 2025, a large-scale CASO operation was conducted in all three police zones of Amritsar under the leadership of DCP Law and Order Alam Vijay Singh. Different teams including ADCP, ACP, Station House Officers, Police Post In-charges, Special Teams and police force participated in this operation. Areas where search operation was conducted Police conducted an intensive search operation in Amritsar's Makboolpura, Mohkampura, Gate Hakiman, Fateh Singh Colony, Sultanwind, Anngarh, Housing Board Colony, Ranjit Avenue, Faizpura, Navi Abadi, Mustafabad, Kaptagarh, Kale Ghanupur, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Bus Stand and other areas. Police thoroughly interrogated suspicious persons, checked vehicles and set up checkpoints at several locations to search every passing vehicle. During this time, police increased strictness in the area to put pressure on criminals. Purpose of the Operation The main objective of this search operation is to curb drug traffickers and stop drug trade. The police administration believes that such campaigns will create fear among criminals and force them to abandon illegal activities. Additionally, one purpose of this operation is to increase the sense of security among the public and strengthen trust between the police and the general public.
