Workshop on health, hygiene and nutritional importance among women and children in Bidar

Highlighting the crucial role of ASHAs in community health care, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, Bidar, Dnyaneshwar Nirgude has stressed the need for home visits to educate pregnant women about maternal and child health, ensuring mandatory medical check-ups and encouraging institutional deliveries in government hospitals.
He was addressing ASHAs at a one-day workshop on ‘Health, Hygiene and Nutritional Importance Among Women and Children’, organised by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Bengaluru in collaboration with the District Health and Family Welfare Department, Bidar and the Zilla Panchayat, at Bidar on February 3.
Dr Nirgude urged reducing dependency on private hospitals, and called for raising awareness to prevent maternal and child mortality.
Dr. Syed Sameer, Project Engineer, KSCST, Bengaluru, stated that ASHA workers must utilise the knowledge gained from this workshop to raise health awareness among the public. He reaffirmed that good health is a fundamental right and encouraged everyone to work with dedication and integrity towards building a healthier society.
The workshop featured lectures from Dr. Sangeeta Hallbande, Dr. Jagannath V. Goudge, Dr. Syed Sameer, and Dr. Mohammad Suhail Hussain, who provided valuable insights to ASHA workers on various health-related topics.
The ASHA workers expressed their appreciation for the training program and requested that more such workshops be conducted in the future.
