The all-party trade unions have termed the Union Budget 2025-26 as anti-people, anti-farmer and anti-worker, and appealed to the working class to oppose the same. They also demanded the Centre to scrap the four Labour Codes which they said are detrimental to the interests of the working class.

Leaders of various trade unions held a protest at the GVMC Gandhi Statue in the city on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, the leaders have said the Centre has put on sale public sector undertakings. In the name of National Monetisation Pipeline, the Centre is trying to sell away the assets of PSUs to corporates, they alleged.

The trade union leaders termed the Union Budget introduced recently as ‘corporate-friendly’ Budget and there was no allocation of funds for farmers, agriculture, Dalits, tribals and working class. Medical and education sectors have also been neglected in the Budget.

The trade union leaders alleged that the Narendra Modi government is changing 29 Labour Laws to four Labour Codes and this is against the interests of the workers. Such a move will not allow the workers right to go on strike and to form as an union to hold negotiations with the managements, they alleged.

Earlier, the trade unions took out a rally from the Telugu Talli flyover to GVMC Gandhi Statue.
