Amid controversy in the Kinnar Akhara, Actress-turned-Saint Mamta Kulkarni conferred with Mahamandaleshwar title and spiritual name Shriyamai Mamta Nand Giri has resigned from the post. She announced her decision in a video posted on Instagram. Mamta said, “There is a controversy regarding me in the Kinnar Akhara. Due to this, I am resigning. I have been a Sadhvi for 25 years and will continue to be one.” The former actress, who was conferred the title of Mahamandaleshwar on 24 January during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, faced allegations of acquiring the title by paying Rs 10 crore. The title was bestowed upon her by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, who also conducted her Pind Daan and Pattabhishek. Mamta was given the new name Shriyamai Mamta Nand Giri and stayed at the Mahakumbh for around seven days. 'I got caught between two Akharas', says Mamta In her video, Mamta said, “I, Mahamandaleshwar Yamai Mamta Nand Giri, am resigning from my post. Today, there are issues regarding me in the Kinnar Akhara. I was given the honour of Mahamandaleshwar, but it has become objectionable to some, whether it is Shankaracharyas or others. I left Bollywood 25 years ago. "Who stays away from makeup and Bollywood for so long? But I dedicated 25 years to penance and disappeared from public life. People question my choices, but Narayan is complete in himself. He is a Maha Yogi and God who adorns himself with various ornaments. All deities are decorated, and those who opposed me also arrived in the same form.” 'No one equals my Guru': Kulkarni Mamta further said, “A Shankaracharya said that Mamta Kulkarni got caught between two Akharas. But my Guru is Swami Chaitanya Gagan Giri Maharaj, under whose guidance I have performed penance for 25 years. No one compares to my Guru. Everyone is filled with ego and keeps fighting among themselves. I do not need to go to Kailash or the Himalayas; the entire universe is before me.” 'Jay Amba Giri paid ₹2 lakh on my behalf', says Mamta Clarifying the financial allegations, Mamta said, “Those who objected to my appointment, whether it is Himangi or anyone else, I have nothing to say about them. They do not understand Brahm Vidya. I respect Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi. "I do not know Himangi Umangi. Who are they? Regarding financial transactions, I was asked for Rs 2 lakh, but I told the Mahamandaleshwar and Jagadgurus in the room that I did not have ₹2 lakh. At that time, Mahamandaleshwar Jay Amba Giri, who was present, took out Rs 2 lakh from her pocket and handed it over to Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi. "People are talking about Rs 4 crore and Rs 3 crore, but I did nothing of that sort. I have worshipped Chandi for 25 years, and she signalled me to step away from all this.” Opposition from Kinnar Jagadguru Himangi Sakhi and Rishi Ajay Das Following Mamta’s appointment as Mahamandaleshwar, Kinnar Jagadguru Himangi Sakhi and Rishi Ajay Das, who claims to be the founder of the Kinnar Akhara, opposed her. Ajay Das alleged, “I have removed Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi and actress Mamta Kulkarni from the post of Mahamandaleshwar. The proper process was not followed in appointing Mamta, and how can someone accused of sedition be given this title?” He further stated, “This is not a Bigg Boss show that will run for a month during the Kumbh. I appointed Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi as Acharya Mahamandaleshwar for the upliftment of the Kinnar community and for religious promotion, but she deviated from the path. I had to take action.”Original Article
