Hortman, her husband Mark, and their dog Gilbert were tragically killed in a brutal double attack weeks earlier. The day before, Biden joined more than 7,500 people in paying respects at the Capitol rotunda, and also visited injured State Senator John Hoffman in the hospital. The suspect behind the attack is now in custody, with legal proceedings underway.
