When Karan Johar had to mortgage his house:’Mother Hiroo had a heart attack; Amitabh Bachchan helped the family in tough times,’ shares director Nikkhil Advani

Dharma Productions is now synonyms with blockbuster hits, and it is Bollywood's one of the most celebrated production house. However, this wasn't the case when Yash Johar was trying to make his company a profitable business venture. Karan Johar had to mortgage his house In a recent interview Nikkhil Advani, who has worked with Karan Johar in multiple films, shared that there was a time when Karan had to mortgage his house and his mother Hiroo had a heart attack. In a chat with Lehren Retro, ''I remember Karan telling me that there was a time when he had to sell some of the camera and light equipment to get the funds. He had mortgaged his house." Amitabh Bachchan helped in tough times Nikkhil recounted that upon learning about Hiroo Johar's health, Amitabh Bachchan stopped his shoot midway and visited Breach Candy Hospital. It was during his visit, a discussion about a possible film took place, which eventually led to the creation of 'Agneepath.' ''Amit ji met Yash uncle and asked, 'How is Hiroo?' Yash uncle told him, 'She is in Breach Candy Hospital.' Amit ji left his shoot and rushed to see her in the hospital,'' added Nikkhil. What followed was a game-changing moment. Amitabh Bachchan aware of the family's financial struggle offered them their support. He simply said, ''There is a boy with whom I am making a film. Romesh is producing it. But you call them and tell them that I have given dates for your film. I know what you are going through. I am giving you my dates. Let's start.'' 'Agneepath' was a flop at the box office Despite the cult following today, 'Agneepath' wasn't a commercial success at that time. This 1990 film featured actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Neelam Kothari, and Tinu Anand.Original Article by Dainik Bhaskar
