In Faridkot, Punjab, a private bus broke through the railing and fell into a drain after colliding with a truck. The accident resulted in the death of 5 people and 30 people were injured. The injured have been admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot for treatment. Among the injured, 2 people have lost their hands. They have been referred to Amritsar for better treatment. Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan visited the injured, during which he said that the Punjab government will provide financial assistance to the injured. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning on Kotkapura Road. The bus of New Deep Transport Company was going from Faridkot to Amritsar. Eyewitness Shamsher Singh said that he was returning home after paying respects at Baba Rode Shah's shrine. The bus was full of passengers. Due to the speed and fog, the bus driver did not see the truck coming from the front. After this, the bus collided directly with the truck. After the collision, the bus became unbalanced and broke through the bridge railing, falling into the drain. As soon as the bus fell, there was chaos. People started shouting for help. People gathered there. Locals arrived with ladders. Somehow, some of the injured were pulled out. They were taken to the hospital in police vehicles. 4 bodies identified
Out of the 5 deceased, 4 have been identified. All four are residents of Muktsar district. According to the administration, the deceased include Simran, a teacher from Muktsar, Atmaram from village Shere Wale, and former sarpanch Balraj Singh and Kaur Singh from village Chibdawali. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of a 65-year-old elderly person are still unknown. Among them, Simran worked at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Faridkot, while Atmaram was a ticket checker for a private bus company at the Faridkot bus stand. 35 people were on board, 2 people's hands were severed
