Renowned playback singer Udit Narayan appeared in Supaul's Family Court on Friday regarding a case filed by his first wife, Ranjana Narayan Jha, in 2022. Ranjana alleges that Udit remarried without divorcing her and denied her rightful status as his wife. During the court appearance, Udit refused to compromise and expressed his intention to fight the case, requesting permission for future appearances via video conferencing. Earlier, the Family Court had fined him Rs 10 for missing a December 2024 hearing and set January 28, 2025, as the deadline for his response. Udit avoided media interaction during his court visit. First marriage was with Ranjana Narayan Jha in 1984 Udit has been married twice. He first married Ranjana Jha in 1984 and second marriage was with Deepa Gahatraj. Udit's name got embroiled in controversy when Ranjana Jha accused him of fraud and marrying second time without divorce. Initially, Udit did not agree to talk about marriage. Then Ranjana knocked on the court's door and after showing photos and documents, Udit agreed to talk about marriage. It should be noted that he had his second marriage with Deepa Narayan (Gahatraj), who is herself a singer.
