PM Modi, Karnataka CM and Celebrities pay tribute to veteran actor B Saroja Devi passes at 87

South-Indian cinema legend B Saroja Devi, affectionately known as ‘Abhinaya Saraswathi’ and the first female superstar of Kannada cinema, passed away on July 14 in Bengaluru due to age-related ailments. The news sparked an outpouring of grief across the film fraternity. Stars like Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Darshan and Ramya offered heartfelt tributes, with Kamal Haasan recalling her affectionate warmth. In Bengaluru, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah also paid floral homage, calling her death a :great loss to Indian cinema.’ Her final rites will be held in her native village.
