India-UK Free Trade Deal on Cards as PM Modi Heads to London

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-nation visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives from July 23 to 26. In the UK, PM Modi will meet his British counterpart Keir Starmer for wide-ranging talks and is expected to call on King Charles III. India and the UK are also likely to sign a long-awaited Free Trade Agreement (FTA), boosting economic ties.Modi will then visit the Maldives at the invitation of President Mohamed Muizzu and will be the chief guest at the country’s 60th Independence Day. The two leaders will work on rebuilding ties and review key regional security and economic cooperation initiatives.
