Massive anti-Trump protests have erupted across Brazil after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed a shocking 50% tariff on Brazilian exports. Demonstrations swept Brasília, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro, where protesters burned effigies of Trump and the U.S. flag outside the American consulate. Outrage grew over what many called politically motivated economic punishment, especially after Trump admitted the sanctions were retaliation for Brazil prosecuting his ally, Jair Bolsonaro. Protesters also condemned U.S. sanctions on Brazil’s top judge. Finance Minister Fernando Haddad slammed the tariff as “unjustifiable.”
