In a historic milestone, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force became the first Indian in 41 years to travel to space, lifting off aboard the Axiom-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS). Launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon atop a Falcon 9 rocket, the mission also includes astronauts from the USA, Poland, and Hungary. Shukla follows in the footsteps of Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, first Indian to reach space.
