‘Bad handwriting’: Mumbai tuition teacher uses candle to brand 8-year-old’s palm

In Mumbai, a tuition teacher has been booked for allegedly branding an eight-year-old student’s palms with a burning candle as punishment for poor handwriting. The boy’s father discovered the injuries and confronted the teacher, who did not deny the act.
