According to a report in Times of India, the search for a long-term captain has begun across Test and ODI formats. Keeping an eye on the WTC final in 2027 and the ODI World Cup in South Africa, India want to plot the road ahead. Rohit last played ODIs against Sri Lanka in August 2024, and his rough patch in Test cricket of late has raised concerns about his long-term future. Virat Kohli given no deadline Since Kohli has been performing well in ODIs, going back to the 2023 ODI World Cup, the BCCI are reportedly going to give him a longer rope, so he won't be rushed into making a decision. Following the Champions Trophy and IPL 2025, India will travel to England for a five-match Test series. With Rohit's Test future uncertain, the BCCI will have to find a successor for the Test captaincy.
