Bengaluru Rural district likely to be renamed Bengaluru North to gain brand edge

The Karnataka government is considering renaming Bengaluru Rural district as ‘Bengaluru North’ to attract investment, following the recent renaming of Ramanagara as Bengaluru South. Local MLAs believe the ‘rural’ tag discourages investors despite the presence of Kempegowda International Airport and industrial zones like Foxconn’s iPhone plant. The cabinet will also discuss renaming Bagepalli town as Bhagyanagar.
