Bombay HC holds Hemang Shah arrest illegal for flouting procedure, orders immediate release

The Bombay High Court has ruled Hemang Shah’s arrest illegal. Shah was arrested by Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing. The court cited failure to produce him before a magistrate within 24 hours. Justices Godse and Sundaresan ordered his immediate release from Arthur Road Jail. The arrest related to allegations of defrauding his brother of Rupees 67 crore.
