‘Champions Trophy is more important, than winning IND vs PAK’:Pakistan vice-captain Salman Ali Agha sets sights on the big prize

Pakistan's vice-captain Salman Ali Agha is looking forward to the India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy clash on 23 February, but insisted that they want to retain their title as well. Pakistan defeated India in 2017 and the co-hosts of the tournament will enter the 2025 edition as the defending champions. While talking to Salman Butt on the latest edition of the PCB podcast, Agha insisted that his team have set their sights on winning the Champions Trophy again, making it their primary goal ahead of winning the India-Pakistan game. Winning the Champions Trophy more important: Salman "I am excited for the Champions Trophy as Pakistan hosting an ICC event is special. Being from Lahore, lifting the trophy in my hometown would be a dream come true for me. The Pakistan team has the potential to win it," said Salman. Pakistan will want to continue from where they left off in 2017, having gotten the better of their arch-rivals back then. The latest edition of the India vs Pakistan game will take place on 23 February. Salman insisted that winning the Champions Trophy is more important than beating India, although the Mohammad Rizwan-led side will hope to win all their matches, including the fixture against the Men in Blue. 'We will try to win against India' "The atmosphere during the India-Pakistan match remains very different. As they say it is the biggest game in the world. But the thing is that is just one game, so winning the Champions Trophy is more than important, rather than winning one game," Salman said. He added, "But we want to win the India match and we will try to win it. I will also try to give my best performance against them." Pakistan will get the tournament underway on 19 February before they meet India on the 23rd, followed by their last group stage match against Bangladesh on 27 February.Original Article
