Deepika Padukone opts out of acting in ‘The Intern’ remake to focus on producing

Deepika Padukone has decided to step away from her acting role in the long-anticipated Hindi remake of ‘The Intern’, while continuing to oversee the project as its producer under KA Productions . Originally slated to play the Anne Hathaway role opposite Amitabh Bachchan’s character (a replacement for the late Rishi Kapoor), Deepika will now help drive the film creatively behind the scenes . The search is on for a new female lead as Deepika channels her efforts into producing globally relevant stories—this being the first of five such projects in the pipeline .
