Political turmoil has started even before the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches have commenced in Jaipur. The adhoc committee of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has requested to rent the Sawai Mansingh Stadium from the Sports Council for conducting Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Jaideep Bihani, who heads the RCA ad-hoc committee, has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given the responsibility of organising Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to them. He said that if it is not done by February 15, he will meet Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on February 16 and discuss the issue. Meanwhile, Sports Department Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pawan says that the organisation of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Jaipur is only possible under the supervision of the Sports Council, not by the adhoc committee. Jaideep Bihani writes a letter to Sports Department Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pawan Notably, RCA Ad-hoc Committee Convenor Jaideep Bihani wrote a letter to Sports Department Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pawan on February 10 (Monday). In this, he informed that the BCCI asked the RCA's Ad-hoc Committee to organise IPL matches in Jaipur. He asked that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur be handed over to the ad-hoc committee of RCA by February 15 so that the stadium can be prepared for IPL matches. In the letter, he has stated that the Sports Council will also be paid Rs 20 lakh for organising each IPL match held at the venue. Bihani said that the BCCI has given the responsibility of organising Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Rajasthan to the RCA, much like how other sporting activities including Ranji Trophy have been organized in Rajasthan over the past 1 year under the supervision of the Ad-hoc Committee. Similarly, IPL matches should also be organised under the supervision of the Ad-hoc Committee. He claimed to have written a letter to the Sports Department secretary in this regard. The 59-year-old wants the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur to be handed over to the ad-hoc committee by February 15. Sports Department Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pawan has said that preparations have begun at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium for Indian Premier League matches. RCA currently does not have any international level stadium where IPL matches can be organised. Additionally, they do not have any MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Sports Council. In such circumstances, IPL matches in Jaipur are only possible under the supervision of the Sports Council, not by the ad-hoc committee. No letter has been received from the ad-hoc committee so far. Rajasthan Royals Vice President Rajeev Khanna, meanwhile, has said that the preparations have begun in Jaipur for the IPL matches. He said that whatever directions are received from the BCCI will be followed. However, he said that currently, the RCA does not have any MOU regarding the stadium.Original Article
