On July 11, India achieved a major milestone in defence with the successful test of its Astra missile. Developed by DRDO and tested with the Indian Air Force, Astra hit fast-moving aerial targets with pinpoint accuracy. The test featured an indigenous RF seeker—India’s own radar tech—used in real flight conditions for the first time. Astra, a Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile, can strike enemy jets over 100 km away. It will soon be deployed on India’s Tejas Mk1A fighter, making it fully Indian. Over 50 Indian companies contributed to this success.
