Gujarat Giants (GG) beat UP Warriorz (UPW) in the match number 3 of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday (February 16). While GG won the toss and elected to bowl first, they managed to restrict UPW to 143/9 in their 20 overs, a total which they chased down with 12 balls to spare. Captain leads from the front It was the Gujarat skipper who led from the front. Ashleigh Gardner first scalped 2 wickets for 39 runs in her four overs. The pick of the bowler for her team, however, was Priya Mishra who conceded 25 runs in her four-over spell while getting rid of three opposition batters. Deandra Dottin also chipped in with two wickets. For UP, it was Deepti Sharma, on captaincy debut, who ended up as the top-scorer. She finished with 39 off 27. Wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry made 24 off 27. In response, Gardner made a brisk fifty that set the tone for GG's successful run chase. She scored a 32-ball 52, studded with five fours and three sixes which eased the pressure of the batters to follow. Harleen Deol, Dottin take GG over the line In the end, Harleen Deol and Dottin's partnership helped GG over the line. For UP, Sophie Ecclestone bowled a superb spell, conceding 16 runs from her four overs while picking up 2 wickets. However, that was not enough to prevent GG from chasing down the score. Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris were the other wicket-takers for UP.Original Article
