Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria unfurled the tricolor flag on the occasion of 76th Republic Day at the PAU Ground in Ludhiana. Alongside the celebrations, he also inaugurated an exhibition of tanks. The city remains under tight security, with over 1,500 personnel deployed to ensure a peaceful event. Governor honours students, police, and soldiers During the celebrations, 900 students demonstrated physical fitness, and 17 special tableaux were displayed. For the first time, martial arts were performed by army personnel, showcasing their skills. Governor Kataria honored several Punjab Police personnel for their exemplary service, including CIA-1 Head Constable Lakhbir Singh, who was recognized for his good deeds. Tribute to Sikh martyrs and India's democratic strength In his address, the Governor highlighted the importance of January 26, marking the day the Indian Constitution was implemented in 1950. He expressed pride in India being the largest democracy. Kataria paid tribute to Sikh martyrs Guru Arjun Dev Ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, calling them symbols of sacrifice for religion and human rights. Governor Kataria praised Punjab's strides in healthcare and infrastructure. He mentioned the development of new roads and job opportunities in the state. He also acknowledged the formation of a road safety force, which is actively saving lives on Punjab’s roads. The Governor distributed sewing machines and tricycles to underprivileged individuals and met families of soldiers martyred in wars. He also stresses Punjab's implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application project, a significant technological achievement. Tight security and medical readiness Security was heightened with traffic diversions and controlled parking near the venue. Various contingents of the Punjab Police and NCC participated in the march past. Medical teams and ambulances were stationed at the venue to provide immediate assistance if needed.Original Article
