Israel has confirmed the death of top Hamas military commander Muhammad Sinwar in a May 13 airstrike. The IDF and Shin Bet say he was killed while hiding in a tunnel beneath the European Hospital in Khan Younis. Two other senior Hamas figures—Muhammad Shabana and Mahdi Quara—were also eliminated in the strike. Sinwar, brother of the late Yahya Sinwar, allegedly led Hamas’s Khan Younis Brigade and was involved in major operations including the October 7 attack and the 2006 kidnapping of Gilad Shalit. Hamas has yet to confirm his death.
