India are squaring off against Bangladesh in their ICC Champions Trophy opener at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday (February 20). While usually there are packed stands waiting for the Indian team wherever they set out to play, this time around empty stand were on display in the second match of the competition which kicks off India's campaign. The same attracted the attention of Lalit Modi, the former IPL chairman and league commissioner. Modi questioned whether the one-day format is becoming irrelevant for the fans and said that an empty stand would not happen if an IPL game were to happen in Dubai. Taking to social media platform X, Modi said: "Champions trophy cricket match between #india and #bangladesh. Stands are empty That would not happen at an #ipl game. Is the one day format becoming irrelevant to the fans ? What’s your view ? Should one day cricket be scrapped and more test cricket ?" Take a look at his tweet here:
