A senior Iranian general, Maj. Gen. Ali Shadmani, was killed in an Israeli airstrike shortly after replacing his predecessor, Maj. Gen. Gholam Ali Rashid. Shadmani headed Iran’s Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters, which manages the country’s military emergency operations. The Israeli Defense Forces said he was the top military commander under Supreme Leader Khamenei and oversaw Iran’s offensive plans against Israel. This strike follows other hits on Iran’s senior military leaders, including IRGC chief Hossein Salami and Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani.
