A US deportee, Davinderjit Singh, hailing from Landra village in Phillaur, who had returned to his village on Wednesday night, has been missing from his house since 5 am on Thursday.
The 27-year-old, who was among the 104 deportees to return to Amritsar on Wednesday, had been dropped at his house by a revenue official at 10 pm on Wednesday.
Davinder’s parents said he took a bike and left his house at 5 am and is yet to return.
The family said Davinder had left for Dubai two months ago but they later learnt that he had reached the US.
When Davinder didn’t return home for hours on Thursday, his family sounded the Apra police. Subsequently, the naib tehsildar and police visited their house.
The youth’s mother, Balbir Kaur, said, “My son returned home last night and was perturbed. At 5 am, he left on his bike without informing us and is yet to return."
Naib tehsildar Sunita Gillan said, “It is perplexing as to why a youth who just returned home last night would leave so early in the morning again. He had been dropped at his house by the revenue official last night. The administration is deeply concerned and is searching for him."
