Lahore's iconic Gaddafi Stadium has completed its transformation in record time, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan's preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Major upgrades The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday (February 6) that the 117-day renovation project has delivered comprehensive improvements to the historic venue. The new-look stadium now features enhanced spectator facilities, a modern floodlighting system, premium hospitality boxes, and expanded seating capacity. State-of-the-art LED towers and electronic scoreboards complement the elevated seating arrangements, while the removal of perimeter fencing promises an improved viewing experience. Inaugural events Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will unveil the renovated stadium on Friday (February 7) at a ceremony featuring performances by renowned artists Ali Zafar, Aima Baig and Arif Lohar. The venue faces its first operational test on February 8, hosting Pakistan versus New Zealand in a tri-series also featuring South Africa. Timeline achievement Despite earlier reports of a five-week delay, the PCB has met its commitment to complete renovations before the ICC's February 12 deadline.
