The Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra has initiated an investigation into YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial statement on the reality show India’s Got Latent. The probe, ordered on Friday under the leadership of Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, will also examine allegations of obscenity in the show and unauthorised ticket sales for similar programs. Amid the controversy, Ranveer took to his Instagram and posted a clarification highlighting the issue. According to the creator, people posing as patients have started invading his mother's clinic. Social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia filed a petition in the apex court on Friday, seeking to merge several police complaints registered against him in different parts of the country. Senior lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud, who is the son of former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, is representing him in this matter. Chandrachud brought up the case before a panel headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, seeking immediate consideration. Mumbai Police and Assam Police teams found Ranveer Allahbadia's Versova residence closed on Friday. The YouTuber, who failed to appear for questioning on February 13, was summoned again today. His request to record statements at home was rejected. While an FIR is registered in Assam, Allahbadia remained unreachable with his phone switched off. He has now approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash all FIRs filed against him nationwide. Allahbadia's apology Samay Raina summoned in Assam FIR In the ongoing investigation linked to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial statement, stand-up comedian Samay Raina has been asked to appear before the police within five days. The FIR, registered in Guwahati, Assam, also includes the names of Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Mumbai Police and the Cyber Department are conducting separate probes, while Assam Police has coordinated with Mumbai’s cyber team regarding the case. Police record multiple statements Mumbai Police has recorded eight statements, including those from Makhija, Chanchlani, and Allahbadia's manager, following a BJP leader's complaint. Video editor Pratham Sagar's statement was taken Friday. Maharashtra Cyber Department has summoned 50 people, including show participants, while judge Raghu Ram provided his statement on Thursday. Ranveer Allahbadia seeks urgent hearing in SC Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia has filed an urgent petition in the Supreme Court to consolidate all FIRs against him. His lawyer, Abhinav Chandrachud, will represent him.
