Maharashtra govt doubles insurance cover for 1.5 lakh govindas at Dahi Handi

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the state’s sports department to provide insurance coverage for 1.5 lakh govindas participating in Dahi Handi, doubling the previous coverage. This decision follows a request from the Dahi Handi Samanvay Samiti, highlighting the increased risk of injury due to the sport’s growing popularity after being recognized as an adventure sport.
