MI Cape Town win maiden SA20 crown:Kagiso Rabada’s four-wicket haul downs two-time winners Sunrisers Eastern Cape

MI Cape Town picked up their maiden SA20 crown after they defeated two-time winners Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final at Wanderers Stadium on Saturday night. Kagiso Rabada picked up four wickets while Trent Boult gave just nine runs in his spell as the defending champions were all out for 105 runs. The Rashid Khan-led side won the summit clash by 76 runs, having scored 181/8 in the first innings. Khan won the toss and elected to bat first as his team started well and put pressure on Sunrisers from the get-go. MI Cape Town deny Sunrisers three-peat Rassie van der Dussen scored 23 off 25, Ryan Rickelton scored 33 in 15 balls, while Connor Esterhuizen slammed 39 in 26 balls. Dewald Brevis also slammed 38 in 18 balls while Delgano Potgieter's late flourish of 13 in 12 helped MI Cape Town to a fight-worthy target. In reply, the Sunrisers' chase never really took off, they lost both David Bedingham and Tony de Zorzi very early, and once the skipper Aiden Markram was dismissed on 6, the defending champs were reeling at 74/5. Rabada, Boult deflate Sunrisers' chase MI Cape Town thus denied Sunrisers a three-peat as the bowling masterclass left the two-time winners in all kinds of trouble. Rabada and Trent Boult combined with lethal effect, Tom Abell scored 30 in 25, while de Zorzi's 26 and Tristan Stubbs' 15-run knock spared their side's blushes. As many as 8 batters from the Sunrisers unit failed to score in double digits, including Markram on a day where everything went MI Cape Town's way. Corbin Bosch, Rashid Khan got one scalp each, Boult and George Linde got two wickets each, while Rabada's four-fer wreaked havoc.Original Article
