India is ramping up domestic fossil fuel output with a major focus on deep-sea exploration in the Andaman region. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted that 1 million sq km of previously restricted sedimentary basin has now been opened for exploration. India has explored only 8% of its 3.5 million sq km sedimentary area so far. Offshore drilling costs remain high, but discoveries in wells like Suryamani and Neelmani show promise. Puri compared India’s prospects to Guyana’s major find after 46 failed attempts, stating the Andaman could deliver “several Guyanas” as ONGC drills deeper than ever before.#indiaenergy #andaman #hardeepsinghpuri #guyana #energysecurity #deepseadrilling #ongc #oilindia #fossilfuels #indiagrowth #investment #naturalresources #suryamani #neelmani #fossilfuel #toi #toibharat
