Painting believed to be only one Gandhi sat for going under hammer at Bonhams

A rare oil portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, believed to be the only one he ever posed for, is set to be auctioned at Bonhams in July. Painted by British artist Clare Leighton in 1931 during Gandhi’s visit to London, the artwork remained within Leighton’s family until now.
