People in Punjab can file objections to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Board’s voter lists until March 10. The final publication of the updated voter lists will be on April 16. These lists will be available for inspection at several locations, including the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Tehsil offices, and notified Gurdwaras. How to file objections? Anyone who believes there is an issue with the voter lists, such as mistakes in names or house numbers, can submit their objections. Objections can be filed in person, in writing, by email, or through an agent. To file an objection, the person must be 21 years or older and already listed in the electoral roll of the relevant constituency. For more information, the voter helpline number 1950 is available. Akali Dal raises concerns about voter list discrepancies Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has raised several concerns regarding the voter lists. They claim that many voters have missing or incorrect house numbers, with some even assigned 'zero' as their house number. Additionally, the party noted that many names in the lists lack 'Singh' and 'Kaur,' which are traditionally used for Sikh names. This, they argue, suggests that there may have been manipulation in the creation of the lists. SAD also argued that non-Sikhs should not be allowed to vote in SGPC elections, as it could lead to interference in Sikh religious matters. They believe that some legitimate Sikh voters have been excluded, and they have called for more time to properly review and address these issues. The discrepancies will be addressed by March 24, and the final voter list will be published on April 16, 2025.Original Article
