Russia has welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which shattered hours after coming into effect on June 24. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow hoped for a “sustainable ceasefire”. His comments come in response to questions about Russia “not doing enough” to help Iran during the war. Earlier, Iranian officials said they felt upset as Russia did not take a strong stance to condemn Israeli and American strikes on Iran. Following the criticism, Russian President Vladimir Putin denounced the strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites as “unprovoked” and “unjustified”.
