Qatar has issued a strong warning to the EU, threatening to cut liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies over the bloc’s new sustainability laws. The law, aimed at curbing forced labor and environmental abuse, has angered Doha, which argues it violates national sovereignty and commercial agreements. Qatar—Europe’s key LNG provider since the Russian gas exit—has now hinted it may divert gas to friendlier markets with more stable policies, risking a major energy setback for the EU.
