SunRisers Hyderabad have expanded their cricket portfolio by acquiring the Northern Superchargers franchise in The Hundred for £100 million (over ₹1093 crore), emerging victorious in a three-way bidding contest. The Yorkshire-based team becomes the sixth franchise to be privatised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in recent days, following the sales of London Spirit, Oval Invincibles, Welsh Fire, Manchester Originals and Birmingham Phoenix. The acquisition marks SunRisers' first venture into English cricket, adding to their existing IPL presence. The ECB's privatisation drive continues with Trent Rockets and Southern Brave remaining the only two franchises yet to be sold in the eight-team competition. Other leagues in which SRH owns teams SRH owns the Sunrisers Eastern Cape that plies its trade in the SA20 league. While Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the championship last season, SRH reached the final in IPL 2024 before losing the titular contest to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
