Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin may have retired from international cricket, but he continues to analyze the game closely. In his latest video, Ashwin discussed India’s recent 4-1 T20I series win over England and pointed out some key batting issues faced by captain Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson. Ashwin’s unique movie comparison R Ashwin made an interesting reference to the Tamil film Thillu Mullu to explain his views on the batting struggles of Suryakumar and Samson. In the movie, superstar Rajinikanth plays two different roles – one with a moustache and one without. Ashwin compared this to the way both players are getting out similarly repeatedly. “Same ball, same field, same shot, same mistake, same dismissal. I can understand it happening in one or two games, but this is surprising,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel 'Ash ki Baat'. Repeated dismissals to similar deliveries Ashwin pointed out that Samson has been consistently getting out to short-pitched deliveries, while Suryakumar Yadav has been struggling with his signature flick scoop shot. Opponents have found a way to turn his strength into a weakness, leading to multiple dismissals. “When you know a tactic is being used against you, it becomes your responsibility to find a new answer. It is very surprising from both players,” Ashwin remarked. Advice for Samson and Suryakumar Ashwin believes that Suryakumar, as an experienced cricketer, must rethink his approach to avoid falling into the same trap repeatedly. “Surya is a very experienced guy. He was part of the change of guard for Indian cricket in batting. But I think it's high time he changes his approach a little,” Ashwin advised. For Sanju Samson, Ashwin feels that mental pressure could be playing a big role in his struggles. “For Samson, the mind will be playing tricks. If there are many questions in your head, it gets difficult,” he added. Samson’s efforts to overcome short-ball weakness Sanju has tried to counter his short-ball weakness by practicing with a plastic ball and changing his batting stance. However, despite some decent starts, he has failed to convert them into big scores. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav had a forgettable series, scoring just 28 runs in five innings, including two ducks. Despite India’s dominant series win, Ashwin’s observations highlight that some key players need to work on their weaknesses. With the T20 World Cup approaching, both Samson and Suryakumar will need to make adjustments to ensure they perform consistently for India.Original Article
