‘There were a couple of other rumours flying around’:Gautam Gambhir breaks silence on dressing room rumours during BGT; reveals India’s new T20 approach

Rumours of a rift between Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, and Ajit Agarkar during India's Australia tour had stormed social media. However, head coach Gautam Gambhir recently mocked these speculations and explained how such stories gain momentum when results do not go in the team's favour. Gambhir reacts to rift speculations During India's recent 4-1 T20I series win against England, Gambhir finally addressed the rumours. Speaking after the fifth T20I in Mumbai, he pointed out how narratives in cricket change based on match results. "A month back, there were a couple of other rumours flying around (laughs). That’s what Indian cricket is all about. When things are not going okay, people talk about issues in the dressing room. But when results improve, everything seems fine," Gambhir said. While he did not deny the rumours completely, he focused on how such stories are often exaggerated. India’s aggressive T20 approach Gambhir also spoke about the team's fresh "high-risk, high-reward" approach in T20 cricket. He emphasized that the goal is to consistently score around 250-260 runs in a match, even if it means facing occasional collapses. In the fourth T20I in Pune, India continued attacking despite losing wickets and posted 181 for 9. In Mumbai, they took it a step further, scoring 247 for 9, one of their highest totals in T20 cricket. "That's the kind of T20 cricket we want to play. We don’t want to fear losing. We want to play aggressive, high-risk, high-reward cricket, and the team has embraced this approach well," Gambhir told the host broadcaster after the match. Aiming for big scores Gambhir made it clear that the team aims to reach 250-260 regularly. He acknowledged that in the process, there will be games where the team might get all out for 120-130, but that is part of modern T20 cricket. "Unless you play fearless cricket, you won’t get big rewards. We are on the right track. When big tournaments come, we want to continue this approach and not fear losing," he added. While Gambhir dismissed dressing room rift speculations, he made it clear that the focus is on pushing boundaries in T20 cricket. With a fearless mindset and aggressive gameplay, Team India is looking to redefine their approach in the shortest format of the game.Original Article
