In a country where stories were once told not in ink but in thread, carved in wood, and painted in pigment, craft has always been more than ornament. It is memory, labour, and legacy, carried across generations. Anvaya, a curated exhibition of India’s living craft traditions, arrives in Chennai this week, bringing together historic art, textiles, and material practices.
Presented by Aabharnam Foundation, a New Delhi-based initiative with a longstanding legacy in India’s textile ecosystem, the three-day exhibition unfolds at The Folly, Amethyst. Curated by textile collector and cultural practitioner Neha Verma, Anvaya brings together the works of 18 master artisans across disciplines, ranging from pattachitra and kalamkari to pichwai, kantha, and handwoven textiles.
