Colombian senator Miguel Uribe, of the right-wing Democratic Center party, was wounded in an armed attack on Saturday while attending a campaign event in Bogotá. In a statement, the Colombian government “categorically and forcefully” condemned the attack, calling it an act of violence not only against “the personal integrity of the senator, but also against democracy, freedom of thought, and the legitimate exercise of politics in Colombia.”
